I Found A Christmas Book Club

“If you want to be a writer, you must do two things above all others: read a lot and write a lot. There’s no way around these two things that I’m aware of, no shortcut.”

― Stephen King, On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft.

Writing a lot has never been a problem for me. Reading a lot . . . well. Okay, I’ll admit it, I haven’t been as consistent in this department as I would like. But I found something that I hope will help.

I found a book club. And not just any book club, a book club for people who enjoy reading stories set at Christmas. Does this sound like me, or what?

It’s called The Cozy Christmas Book Club, and I found it on Facebook. It’s run by Art K., who is also the creative force behind The Cozy Christmas Podcast. (Links supplied below.) We just finished reading and discussing a cozy mystery called Rest Ye Murdered Gentlemen by Vicki Delany. It’s a murder mystery set in Rudolph, New York, a cozy Christmas-themed village. Before that, the group read The Man Who Invented Christmas: How Charles Dickens’s A Christmas Carol Rescued His Career and Revived Our Holiday Spirits by Les Standiford. I am anxious to find out which book the club will read next.

I have also enjoyed listening to The Cozy Christmas Podcast and Art’s YouTube channel. In his most recent podcast, Art discussed Mrs. Clause: A Christmas Legend. In a recent episode on YouTube, Art shared some special Christmas books and collectibles he acquired over the summer. I almost jumped out of my chair when one of the items he featured was the A Christmas Carol Lego set. Cindy gave me that set for Christmas last year, and we recently assembled it together.

So, all of this sounds like it’s right up my Christmas tree-lined alley, and I am looking forward to whatever is coming next.

I’m sharing this with you in case you are ready to get your Christmas spirit fired up and join us. Only 98 days until Christmas! You can find the book club, Art’s podcast, and the YouTube channel via the links below.
