Cheyenne’s Valentine Mystery

“Beth Kachina had no family, and neither do I,” Cheyenne Kachina insisted. The only other person to attend her mother’s funeral raised his head, twisted it to one side, and opened one eye wider than the other. He grinned. “Are you sure?” — Cheyenne’s Valentine Mystery

Happy Valentine’s Day, readers! My heartfelt gift to you is a new Dickens Station Mystery Short Story titled Cheyenne’s Valentine Mystery.

In this story, Cheyenne Kachina, a young woman grieving her mother’s unexpected passing from cancer, and believing she has no family to support her, is visited by an older man she has not met before who gives her a box and tells her to open it only when she is ready. When a Valentine from her mother’s “friend” arrives unexpectedly, Shy remembers the box. She opens it to find a bracelet she had seen on her mother’s wrist all her life, but went missing one day in November when her mother mysteriously disappeared, only to return without it. Where did her mother go that day? What happened to her? How did the old man get her bracelet?

The clues lead Cheyenne to Dickens Station, Vermont, where wonderful things happen.
