A Mystery Novel Review – A Midnight Puzzle by Gigi Pandian

Watch my review of Gigi Pandian’s A Midnight Puzzle and follow along with the transcript below.

Transcript:

“Not all booby traps are created equal.” This one line sets the stage for the third novel in Gigi Pandian’s Secret Staircase Mystery series, A Midnight Puzzle. The series includes award-winning Under Lock and Skeleton Key and The Raven Thief, both of which I highly recommend.

Pandian’s talent for weaving an intricate mystery in an engaging setting with fun, interesting, and genuinely relatable characters has earned her an Agatha, an Anthony, a Lefty, and Derringer awards.

Mystery lovers will be drawn to the hills of Hidden Creek to visit the cathedral-inspired Whispering Creek Theater and to explore the concealed staircases, secret gardens, and hidden libraries conceived by the Secret Staircase Construction Company. Theatre magic lovers (including former magicians like me) will be hooked by Tempest’s family history of stage illusions and magic that are intricate to the plot.

But I think what makes this story, and this series, exceptional is the tightly-knit family of eclectic characters that support Tempest Raj as she solves the mysteries of multiple murders that span generations.

I hope you enjoy Gigi Pandian’s latest Secret Staircase Mystery – A Midnight Puzzle.

Until next time, I’m Donald Jay.
